Kayla Griffith, MD is a fellowship-trained breast surgeon specializing in breast cancer, oncoplastics and benign breast disease. Dr. Griffith has a passion for delivering compassionate and quality care to patients.
Dr. Griffith completed her breast fellowship at Georgetown University and a fellowship in surgical oncology and immunotherapy at the National Cancer Institute. She has been on faculty at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and a full time surgeon and educator at Shinyanga Regional Referral Hospital in Tanzania, East Africa. Although originally a Tennessean from the hills southeast of
Nashville, Dr. Griffith received her medical degree in the mountains at East Tennessee State University and her training in general surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina prior to her fellowship training. She is board-certified in general surgery and is a certified breast surgeon by the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
During her free time, Dr. Griffith continues to advance surgical care and education in East Africa and is an active member of Women in Surgery-Africa, the International Society of Surgery and the World Health Organization for Emergency and Essential Surgical Care. Dr. Griffith is a sought-out speaker and has been invited across the world, mostly recently at the World Congress of Surgery and Breast Surgery International. In her spare time, Dr. Griffith immensely enjoys travel and the outdoors; she is no stranger to hiking rainforest volcanoes in Nicaragua, riding trains through Sri Lankan tea fields, capturing photos of mountain gorillas in the Congo, diving along the reefs of Zanzibar and climbing the ridges and peaks of Kilimanjaro. Dr. Griffth is thrilled to be in Denver and call Colorado home again after 15 years away.
